Starmont Sauvignon Blanc. A Real Man's White Wine.

So today at work a vendor comes through with two supplies from a company out of California called Merry Vale (Merry Vale Vineyards).  Their proposal was for a line of wine called Starmont from their Napa vineyard, starring a Carneros Chardonnay priced fairly under $20.  We did a small tasting after a few minutes of negotiation and uncalled-for amounts of profanity.  It started very peachy and fruity followed by a butterscotch creaminess.

Not my thing....

But...  There were two more wines up for grabs.  a Cabernet which was a little too prolific for my consumer base, and a Sauvignon blanc that stood out.  Just to note, all of the wines were rated at least 90 points by Wine Spectator Magazine, and for a damn good reason.

The Sauvignon Blanc was astounding.  It was full of many fragrant notes like hibicus and honeysuckle that lingered long after the drink was done.  Now I do say this in a good way.  I've had Sauv Blancs before where I couldn't get the taste out for days....  It was surprisingly balanced in terms of a Napa white: Mild acidity, mild sweetness, not too dry, and very smooth body.

This is an amazing wine all in all, and not too mention it's about fourteen to seventeen dollars.  This would be perfect for any type of creamy seafood dish or even with a sweet white corn bisque.  If anyone in the New Orleans area needs a bottle, send me a message.  I can tell you where to go.
